Tahfifah: On 'Step Up'

~ Solehah's Old Man & Friends : 16/05/11 ~

Teka teki (beza antara jatuh pokok kelapa dengan jatuh telaga buruk) serta yang terkini, pengalaman seorang kerabat terdekat Solehah semasa temuduga (kena tahan jika dimarahi) mengingatkan ayah Solehah akan cerita berikut:

An old mule fell into an old well. After assessing the situation, the owner (a farmer - although sympathized with the mule) decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. He called his neighbours & asked them to help him to bury the old mule in the well & put him out of his misery. Initially, the old mule was hysterical.

But as the farmer & his neighbours continued shovelling & the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back, he should shake it off & step up!

That he did, blow after blow. "Shake it off & step up ... shake it off & step up!" he repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful or distressing, the mule kept on shaking it off & stepping up! It wasn't long before the old mule (battered & exhausted) stepped over the wall of the old well.

Catatan:

1. What could have buried the old mule blessed him, all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity

2. Whenever your superior scold you, always reflect on this story & tell yourself : He has the right to say whatever he wants about you, and you also have the right to choose how you want to response to yourself. Choose to response POSITIVELY & CONSTRUCTIVELY & choose to be HAPPY.

3. Kalau Cikgu Mat Pedu masih ada, dia pasti akan berkata, "buatlah macam mana pun, asal jangan patah @ buta."

Tahfifah: On 'Failure'

~ Solehah, Mum & Brothers : Penang Hill, 2003 ~

A sms from one of Solehah's brother recently stated, "Tengah sedih nie, kalah ****** inter batch. Minta advise cikit." Frankly, as Solehah's dad is not a motivator nor a counselor, so NO specific advise can be given. Anyway, Dr. Robert H. Schuller quotes on failure might help. According to him, failure:

• does not mean we are a failure ~ it means we have not succeeded.
• does not mean we accomplished nothing ~ it means we have learnt something.
• does not mean we have been a fool ~ it means we have a lot of faith.
• does not mean we have been disgraced ~ it means we are willing to try.
• does not mean we don't have it ~ it means we have to do something in a different way.
• does not mean we are inferior ~ it means we are not perfect.
• does not mean we have wasted our life ~ it means we have a reason to start afresh.
• does not mean we should give up ~ it means we must try harder.
• does not mean we will never make it ~ it means it will take a little longer.

Catatan:

As for Solehah's dad (as anak Cikgu Mat Pedu) & mum too:

They believe in life (especially in bringing up Solehah) they must never give up! No matter how many times they failed, they must always ATTEMPT AGAIN. If there is a WILL, there is always a WAY and always a WAS.

Tahfifah: On 'Ending @ Beginning'

~ A 'Graduate' From Taska Anugrah ASFA : 2007 ~

Solehah is very happy lately as his eldest brother (Adi) is at home. Adi has just completed his practicum (industrial training) in KL and insyaAllah he will graduated soon.

Very soon (by next week - Monday, 06/07/06) his second brother (Zakwan) will also be at home. As for Zakwan, it is his semester-break.

As Adi will be the first in the family, the whole family are really looking forward for his graduation day. Anyway, for me LEARNING HAS NO END!

but, perhaps it is

~ Zoo Taiping~

A frog happened to slip into a large pothole along the country road. All his atempts to jump out of the pothole failed. Soon various country animals came and tried to help the poor frog out of the hole. Anyway, all their attempts failed and they finally gave up.

"It looks like you're going to be there for a while," they said. "We'll go back and get you some food."

However, not long after they took off to get food, the frog hopped past them. They couldn't believe it! "We taught you couldn't get out!" they hollered out.

"Oh, I couldn't," replied the frog, "but you see, there was a big tractor coming right at me, and I had no choice."

OPTIMUM STRESS IS NECESSARY FOR US TO STUDY HARD & DO WELL IN EXAM

Solehah got only 88% for her Science.

Tahfifah: On 'Help'

~ Berbasikal : menguatkan otot untuk berdiri & berjalan ~

Everybody needs help. Don't be shy to ask for it.
While, pride is an egoistic state of mind. It is worthless but a fool is willing to pay for it.
Don't allow shyness and pride to stop you from asking for help.
Catatan:

Itulah 'pegangan' di sebalik kejayaan bagaimana Solehah boleh berjalan. Kami tidak putus-putus (selama 5 tahun) meminta pertolongan Allah. Dengan izinNya, kami dipermudahkan - mendapat pertolongan banyak pihak & akhirnya Solehah boleh berjalan.

Tahfifah: Do Not Do...

From the Unknown Author:

Do not do unto others, things that we would not like others to do unto us! Treat others how we would like to be treated.

Catatan:

If your friend is really nasty, make sure you don't treat your friend likewise. Else you are no different from your nasty friend.

Think positive! Thank your friend for being so nasty because they have helped you to develop 'antibody' to the 'nasty-people-antigen'.

We will meet many of them in the real world - "in the dog-bite-dog world".
