Jamung: Tips Untuk Siswa/i

~ UUM : Konvokesyen 2005 ~
Last Thursday (25th. June 2009) I read an article "Pesanan Kepada Mahasiswa" - sorry ... couldn't remember either in Utusan Malaysia or Berita Harian. It was written by Muhammad Ismail & Dr. Saiful Anuar Khalid - both are Lecturer & Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Business Management, UiTM, Perlis.
The article is on how to be a successful university student. According to Muhammad Ismail & Dr. Saiful Anuar Khalid, "Perkara-perkara yang perlu diberi perhatian ialah:
1. Utamakan cita-cita bukannya cinta;
2. Hapuskan sindrom backbenchers club;
3. Jauhi perangai musang, siang mengantuk malam berjaga;
4. Sentiasa menjadi rider bukannya passenger; dan
5. Bina hubungan positif dengan pensyarah & rakan-rakan.
Catatan:

Tahfifah: On 'Body, Age & Mind'

~ Penang Hill : Few Years Back ~
If we have left our dreams behind,
If hope is lost, if we no longer look ahead,
If our ambition fires are dead,
Then WE ARE OLD.
But ...
If from life we take the best,
And if in life we keep the jest,
If love we hold,
No matter how the years go by,
No matter how the birthdays fly,
WE ARE NOT OLD!
When the BODY is OLD
the MIND should remain YOUNG.
AGE
IS A QUALITY OF MIND

Personal: Birthday vs Birth Day

~ Balu Allahyarham Cikgu Mat Pedu & Pelindung Solehah ~
Personally, I think ...
BIRTHDAYS
SHOULD BE DEDICATED TO
MOTHERS
So, on the 18th. June, 2009
Happy Birth Day, Puan Hajah Puteh Haji Hamid
Catatan:
I'm very grateful to my mother for bringing me into this wonderful world. Not forgetting my late father Allahyarham Cikgu Mat Pedu - al-Fatihah.

Personal: On 'Birthday'

~ Kad daripada mama Solehah - she called me 'ayah' ~
I just came back from my weekly badminton game about an hour ago. As usual the two ladies (Solehah & her mum) were already asleep. When I entered our bedroom, there were two beautiful birthday cards - one from Solehah & the other from her mum.
In one of the card Solehah's mum wrote:
Thank You for the memories,
the joy you crafted out of love,
the small adventures,
you've devised for me,
the companionship that we shared.
TQ kerana berbakti pd kami semua selama ini.

Solehah wrote:
Selamat Hari Jadi.
Terima Kasih atas pengorbanan mu.
Before writing this post, I checked the e-mail & I found a message from my office-mate (Ghozes - whom I treated as my own daughter). Her message was:
Happy birthday to you ..
May you have prosperous day and beautiful life ... :)
While editing this post I received this pop-up message from Zakwan (Solehah's 2nd. Brother):
AYAH ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ... YOU ARE THE BEST ...
TUNGGU ABG BALEK BARU KITA SAMBUT ... TUNGGU TAU
Catatan:
He'll be coming home petang nanti.
5. Terima kasih ALLAH kerana memberikan isteri, anak-anak & rakan yang amat membahagiakan. KAU rahmatilah mereka semua YA ALLAH ...

Anekdot: Brain vs Beauty

~ Copthorne Orchid, Penang : 03/06/09 ~
People say that we can have either beauty or brains & not both simultaneously. People also say that doctors are brainy. Do you agree?
George Bernard Shaw (26 July 1856 – 2 November 1950 : an Irish playwright) was once approached by a seductive young actress who cooed him in his ear, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we got married and had a child with my beauty and your brains?"
George Bernard Shaw who was hardly handsome man replied,"My dear, that would be wonderful indeed, but what if our child had my beauty and your brains?"
Catatan:
I think (experience going to the various hospitals) most doctors at government hospitals not only have both (brains & beauty) but also sincerity & caring. That's why we appreciated government hospital more campared to private.

Santai: On 'Fake'

~ Visiting Solehah's Uncle at Hospital Seberang Jaya, Pulau Pinang - 03/06/09 ~
"some people faked their smile 2 hide their feelings so that the world won't know what they feel inside."
That was the comment by 'lemon' on the previous post (Tafhifah: On 'Smile'). Thanks 'lemon'. Anyway, the following is what I got to say...
Two men were seriously ill. They occupied the same hospital room. One was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other had to spend all his time flat on his back. They became friends and talked for hours on end. They spoke of their life's - wives, families, homes, jobs, vacations, etc.
Every afternoon when the man by the window could sit up, he described to his friend all the things he could see outside. His friend began to live for those one-hour periods where his world could be broadened & enlivened by all the activity & colour of the world outside.
He told that the window overlooked a park with a lovely lake where ducks & swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm-in-arm amidst flowers of every colour of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in distance. As he described all these exquisite detail, his roommate would close his eyes & imagine the picturesque scene.
One day, he described a parade passing by. Although his friend couldn't hear the band, he could see in his mind's eyes as it was portrayed with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed. One morning, the man by the window passed away. After the body was taken away, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window.
The nurse was happy to make the switch. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing the world outside for himself. So, slowly & painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window. It face a blank wall.
Later, the man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased friend who had described such wonderful thing outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind & could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."
SORROW IS HALF GONE WHEN SHARED
BUT HAPPINESS DOUBLES
Catatan:
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy. So, the next time when you are unhappy, try doing something for the happiness of others although ...

Tahfifah: On 'Smile'

~ At RMC: Visiting Budak Boy ~
We are always grateful that we can still smile no matter how difficult life is. A lot of people can't.
It takes 72 muscles to frown but only 14 muscles to smile. Most smiles are started by others so, smile first.
Catatan:
1. Kami sekeluarga amat bersyukur (alhamdulillah) kerana sentiasa diberi ruang untuk merasai nikmat kebahagiaan hidup.

Tahfifah: On 'Money'

~ Solehah: At Selayang Hospital ~
"Tiga Jam Tunggu Giliran".
Kami selalu set di minda bahawa 'lambat itu nikmat' - we could do a lot thing while waiting - such as reading, a glass of teh ais, a piece of roti canai at the cafe & for Solehah - dia suka dengan permainan yang disediakan di kebanyakan hospital kerajaan (ada ke di hospital swasta?? - tak pernah lihat).
Kami tidak berapa kisah tentang berapa lama menunggu. Kami lebih mementingkan kualiti & keikhlasan rawatan. So far, we got both. To the goverment hospitals especially HSB (yang banyak membantu) thanks & keep up the good service.
Frankly, we believe that money CAN ONLY buy:
house but not HOME
bed but not SLEEP
clock but not TIME
sex but not LOVE
position but not RESPECT
food but not APPETITE
insurance but not SAFETY
book but not KNOWLEDGE
blood but not LIFE
medicine but not HEALTH
present but not GIFT
task but not CARING
service but not SINCERITY
Catatan:
Nak bawa Solehah bercuti sambil menziarah keluarga, kenalan & makan kenduri.
